Bulova Astronaut

We all know the Omega Speedmaster as the first watch on the moon, but the Bulova fanbase claim that without the Bulova Astronaut, they wouldn’t have gotten there in the first place, as this watch was worn in the commando centre here on earth.

This Astronaut was also powered by one of Bulova’s Accutron movements -also used in one of my Snorkel‘s- but this one with the added GMT complication and came on the original slant side bracelet, which looks very nice but was not very comfortable to wear…maybe this is why they’ve gotten so rare by now?

The rotating bezel was acrylic with luminous numbers for the GMT function.

Bulova’s dating system M8 traces this one back to 1968, ready in time for the moonlanding  preparations…After I got it I also found a NOS dealer presentation kit of the LEM-module.
